Caisson (Caise) Vickery, a senior at Fort Walton Beach High School (FWBHS), is the proud recipient of the 2009 Taylor Haugen Trophy. An avid soccer player and a dedicated cross country runner, Caise has been a devoted member of both teams since his freshman year at FWBHS. A genuine team player who enjoys the camaraderie of his teammates, Caise’s cross country teammates selected Caise as their team’s recipient of the FCA “Go The Distance” Award. Caise’s passion for his sports shines throughout the year when even during the summers and school holidays he can be found training for the upcoming season.

Caise currently serves as FWBHS’s FCA President and has been instrumental in organizing numerous activities such as the See You at the Pole, the National Day of Prayer and FCA Fields of Faith event. A devout Christian who attends Sunday School and Church Worship services weekly, Caise blends his strong faith into all that he does. He enjoys participating in youth retreats and a variety of community service activities such the Science Fair, Career Fair, and Give Me Shelter Ministries, and is an active member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta (Math Honor Society), Teen Age Republicans, Ultimate Frisbee Club, and Peer Tutoring.

Caise’s cheerful demeanor, humorous wit, and caring ways are all under girded by a positive attitude and a deep faith in Jesus Christ. Well-respected by both his peers and his teachers, his senior class selected him for the Viking Norseman award and his teachers chose him for the Viking Hall of Fame award. As a tutor to his peers, Caise takes great pride in treating others with respect while giving his best effort at discerning their problem and then teaching them how to solve it for themselves. Even Caise’s own medical challenges over the years – from recouping after a broken collar bone to battling periodic migraines– haven’t hindered his perseverance in both his academics and sports.

Whatever comes his way, Caise always prevails with a can-do attitude, sharing in Taylor Haugen’s mantra of “DON’T QUIT - NEVER GIVE UP.” It is these unique character traits that make Caise an ideal fit for the 2009 Taylor Haugen Trophy.
