Betsy Stevenson and Robby Keefe
Betsy Stevenson of Walton High School is the 2009 All Sports Association Female Scholastic Award Recipient. She has a 4.37 weighted GPA and will graduate ranked #1 in her class. Betsy has received the English, Science, History, and Math Honors Awards for the past three years. She serves as the Vice-President of both the National Honor Society and Student Government and is a member of Mu Alpha Theta and the Spanish Honor Society as well as the Sports Coordinator for Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She was selected “Most Athletic” and a member of the Hall of Fame at Walton High.
Betsy is a member of both the Anchor and Key Club where she has been involved in numerous community service projects. Through her vision and organization, she was responsible for the first “Shoot for a Cure” basketball game raising funds for breast cancer awareness. Betsy is a member of the First Baptist Church of DeFuniak Springs.
As a two-sport varsity athlete, Betsy has excelled in both volleyball and basketball. In volleyball, she received the Florida Athletic Coaches Association District 1 3A Volleyball Player of the Year and played in the FACA All-Star game. She is the Northwest Florida Daily News/ All Sports Association Volleyball Player of the Year and has been on the All-Area volleyball team for the past three years. Betsy was selected as her team’s MVP and Captain for past two years. In basketball, she was on the Northwest Florida Daily News/ All Sports Association All Area basketball team for the past three years. She is the second leading scorer in the history of Walton High School going over 1,000 career points this season. Betsy has started in 105 consecutive varsity basketball games beginning with her 9th grade year. In both volleyball and basketball, she has earned numerous all-tournament team awards as well as played on both AAU and USAV volleyball teams and AAU basketball teams.
Betsy is uncommitted as far as her athletic scholarship opportunities, but her college plans are to major in Biology and attend medical school. She is the daughter of Chuck and Jill Stevenson of DeFuniak Springs, FL.
Robby Keefe of Choctawhatchee High School is the 2009 All Sports Association male Scholastic Award Recipient. He has a 4.6 weighted GPA and will graduate in the top 3% of his class, graduating Summa Cum Laude.
Robby is a member of the National Honor Society and the National Society of High School Scholars. He is an AP Scholar, member of the Beta Club, member of Mu Alpha Theta and a National Merit Finalist. In October 2008 Robby was named the Emerald Coast Exchange Club’s Youth of the Month. He is an International Baccalaureate Diploma candidate and has been named to Who’s Who among American High School Students from 2006 to 2008. In addition to his academic achievements Robby is a trombonist in the Choctawhatchee High School Symphonic Band and has reached Level IV in piano in the Florida State Music Teachers Association Student Day Festival. Robby has over 200 hours of community service during his high school career and is a member of Saint Mary Catholic Church where he has been an Altar Server and a trombonist in the church youth orchestra.
Robby has participated in Varsity Football and Track and Field. He was a Team Captain in Varsity Football and received honorable mention to the All-Area Football Team and twice named the Offensive Most Valuable Player during his senior season. In Track and Field Robby was a member of back-to- back County Champion track teams and was a member of the County Champion mile relay team as a freshman.
Following graduation this Spring Robby will attend college, but has yet to make a final decision on which school he will attend. He is the son of Larry and Lynn Keefe of Shalimar.
