Alexa Guarachi

Alexa GuarachiAlexa Guarachi is the 2009 All Sports Association Amateur Athlete of the Year. Alexa is a senior at South Walton High School and was rated seventh among the nation’s top college tennis recruits, before signing with The University of Alabama.
In 2008 Alexa competed in all four Tennis Grand Slam Events, the Australian, French, Wimbledon and U.S. Open. Amongst other accomplishments in 2008 was winning the 2008 Chilean International Tennis Federation (ITF) doubles championship and defeating the 20th-ranked player in the world Mallory Burdette at the US Hard Court Championships in Berkley. Alexa achieved a career high of 81 in the ITF world junior rankings and became one of the top four American juniors in the World Junior tennis rankings.
Alexa won the coveted U.S. National Clay Court Singles Championship at the age of 14 and was the runner up in doubles. At age of 16 playing in the 18 and under world junior circuit she won two ITF Junior singles events in Egypt and Morocco, and also was the winner of the doubles event in Egypt. Other career highlights include 2007 Tunisia ITF singles and doubles champion, 2007 Egyptian ITF singles champion and doubles runner-up, 2007 Argentina ITF singles semifinalist and 2007 South Korea ITF singles semifinalist. Alexa has competed in 23 countries during her remarkable tennis career. She has already achieved a WTA Women’s tour ranking and has participated as an amateur in a dozen professional events in four continents.
Alexa is from Destin FL and the daughter of Seascape Resort’s tennis professionals Fernando and Holley Guarachi. She has one sister, Carolina and her brother Stefan who has won gold medals in Special Olympics.
